With Father's Day coming in a few weeks, I thought I would share an inexpensive DIY Father's Day gift idea that can be made with some help from the kids. While a lot of Dad's love the ties, sports equipment and gift cards, there is nothing like a homemade gift that says I love you.
This is the kind of gift that really last a lifetime. We have hand-made items from the kids that have been saved for years and have travelled from one home to another.
These gifts are great for a Dad, Grandfather, Uncle or even a Dad to be! The items you need are:
* Photo
* Photosafe Markers
* Mat Board
* Frame
Ask the kids to write on the mat frame. They can include a favorite memory or write a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the recipient. Use different color markers and be sure to but the date somewhere on the frame. You can use scrapbook letter stickers to give the photo a title, like World Class Dad or Love You Dad.
Would you like to save this?
These are great for Grandfathers. Grandpa's usually have all they need, but can never be told how much they are loved. It is a wonderful way to get the entire family to write something on the frame. The photo can be of Dad or the family.
Once everyone has signed the mat, place the photo behind the matting and place in a nice frame. Yes, this is a photo of Elvis, but you get the idea.
Would this work for someone on your Father's Day gift list?

I'm always looking for ideas! My husband and father-in-law are both hard to shop for!

Me too Ginny! It's nice to know that I am not alone in the quest. 🙂
