Dollar Store Valentine's Wreath

A few weeks ago, my mom and I got together for our biweekly craft session and we made some Valentine's wreaths. Mom and I have been crafting together as long as I can remember. Back when I was little, she would show me how to make resin grapes, tissue paper flower arrangements and macrame hanging pot holders. Then in the 90's we went through a phase where we did a ton of scrapbooking and rubber stamping.

Now we still rubber stamp once in a while, but paper scrapbooking came to a halt a few years ago. We also do some floral and fabric crafts. We have been on a wreath-making kick and have been making wreaths for the different holidays. The other day we worked on a Valentine's wreath.

That's one of my mom's little dogs. Isn't she cute? I could not resist snapping this photo and posting it on Instagram.

Dollar Store Wreath

I found this beautiful pink mesh ribbon at the dollar store and could not resist buying it. I cut 4" squares and rolled them up like this.

Then once I had three, I tied them together with a pipe cleaner (also found at the dollar store).

So I repeated the process several times and set aside. I covered my styrofoam wreath in pretty pink scrap fabric that I got from the remnants section of the craft store. You will notice that this project is so easy that I was able to watch some football while crafting - multi-tasking in a good way!

Once I covered the styrofoam, I attached the bows to the wreath by tying them in the back.

Then I added a bow made out of heart ribbon as an accent. I also added two hanging aluminum hearts to the center.

And my wreath was done!

    Yes, the dog is adorable!
And I love your multi-tasking with crafting and watching the game.
I think the final result is beautiful and cheery and would certainly stand out amid our white winter wonderland right now.

    Hi Raquel,
Very creative with the wreath. I love crafting with materials bought at the dollar store. I'll be posting Valentine's Day decorations for a Ladies only V. day luncheon and Bunco party. I bought lots of supplies from the dollar store too. Stop by my blog to check it out. Hope you have a Happy Valentine's Day!

First, the doggie is SO CUTE! I like the wreath too. People make such amazing dollar store crafts, but when I go, I rarely find a good selection of items! There aren't any good dollar store chains within 20 minutes from here, just a stand alone, that has an odd mix of items, few of which are actually $1!
