Tips for the Best Results

  • Use a large microwavable bowl for melting the chocolate chips, ensuring there’s enough room to stir the ingredients without spilling.
  • When pouring the chocolate peanut butter mixture over the Chex cereal, do it gradually for even coating.
  • For best results, let the coated cereal set at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before adding M&Ms to ensure a crunchy texture and so that the M&Ms don’t melt.

Substitutions and Variations

  • Cereal Options: Feel free to mix and match with different types of Chex rice cereal (such as wheat or chocolate) for varied textures.
  • Nut Butters: Swap the creamy peanut butter for almond butter or sunbutter for nut-free variations.
  • Additional Mix-ins: Enhance your Christmas muddy buddy recipe by adding crushed candy canes or peppermint bark for a seasonal twist.
  • Colorful Sprinkles: Use green sprinkles and red sprinkles  to make your muddy buddies more festive.
