A Cookie Convention

Have you ever heard of a cookie convention? Me either, until I had the privilege to attend one in Pasadena recently. You see, I have been baking cookies and cupcakes since I was a kid and when I heard that the LA Cookie and Sweets Convention was coming to Pasadena, I am pretty sure I squealed!

Cookie Convention

The other great thing about this event is that the proceeds from the baking competition went to benefit Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.

The day of the convention was a typical beautiful and sunny California day. I got there early and people were already lined up to get in to the convention.

When I walked in, it reminded me of that happy moment when you walked into a candy shop as a little girl, catching all the sweet smells and colors of beautiful treats!
Cookie Convention
There were so many cookies there to admire and sample. Come with me as a share what was at the first ever LA Cookie and Sweets Convention. Each display was so different and I think every one of them had samples to eat. Here is a taste of what was there....

SO many varieties and so many samples...

There were also cookie and sweets competitions,

And so many beautiful cookies.

There were cakes and cake pops too. Check out this Display from Daphne Ho Cake Design.

Some of them had cute cookie names.

And some where downright elegant.

There were some sweets that were Brazilian and gluten-free.

And even a selection of toffees. Did you notice I made that rhyme?

There were also cake and cookie decorating vendors at the convention. These adorable candy toppings from Caljava caught my eye and I bought a few for future decorating endeavors.

TrueColor offered the largest selection of food coloring that I had ever seen. Doesn't this make you want to frost a bunch of rainbow cookies?

When I was there, I had the chance to meet Jen & Joe. They started their business, Jen & Joe's Cookie Dough about ten years ago out of their desire to offer people a refrigerated cookie dough without any artificial flavors or preservatives. Jen has been baking since she was a little girl and later, attended pastry school.

These two are so cute. Joe says that " He is here to show you that anyone can bake cookies". Their cookies do not have any artificial colors or flavors and use real eggs and butter. I have baked some of these already and they are tasty and so convenient (you can even just bake one or two at a time). They are currently available to purchase through JenandJoes.com online store and can be shipped to the lower 48 states.

I also got to meet the sweet folks from J & D Catering who sponsored a giveaway to the convention on my blog. They run a fabulous catering company in Orange County.

In addition to all of the exhibitor booths there was a demo on Wedding cakes from celebrity chef, Ron Ben-Israel,  Vegan and Paleo demonstrations from several vendors and meet and greets with some contestants from Master Chef and  Master Chef Junior.I t was an awesome event and I want to go again next year. The event was sold out days before and I have a feeling that the event will be bigger next year.

Great recap and photos! I didn't get my tickets soon enough and they sold out quickly. I also love Jen & Joe's! They're perfect for when you just want a couple of cookies, not a dozen. 🙂

Yes, they sold out right away, but hopefully there will be more tickets and a larger space next year. It really was fun!

A cookie convention yet! I'd have loved to be there , whether I got to sample the cookies or not. Love the pictures you shared here. Now I have to see if I can figure out a way to get one here in Syracuse. 🙂

Hi, I'm Raquel! I am a self-proclaimed foodie and have enjoyed cooking and baking since I was little. I loved baking cookies with my mother and grandma as a child, and later making dinners for my parents to foster my passion while in high school. I also had a passion for organizing and keeping things tidy.
