Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups salsa
  • 1 package of taco seasoning

Instructions

  • Add the chicken breasts to your crockpot.
  • Sprinkle over taco seasoning.
  • Pour salsa over top.
  • Cook on low 6-8 hours, or high 3-4 hours.
  • Once cooked, shred the chicken and return it to the crock pot.
  • Stir well to combine.

Notes

  • For best results, check the chicken for doneness after 5 hours so that you are careful not to overcook the meat. Cook time can vary depending on the side of the chicken breasts.
  • Use slow cooker liners to save on clean up time. They are so helpful.
  • If you're short on time, you can cook your crock pot tacos on high for a 3-4 hours. However, keep in mind that the meat may not be as tender as when cooked on low.
  • While the filling simmers, you can focus on preparing fresh toppings like chopped lettuce, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and your favorites.
  • Make a double batch and use the second batch to make burritos, or nachos.
