Berry Lemonade

This easy berry lemonade recipe combines the tanginess of fresh lemons with the sweetness of mixed berries for a refreshing summer beverage.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar divided
  • 8 ounces fresh or frozen mixed berries- we used strawberries blueberries, and blackberries
  • 2 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 4 cups water divided

Instructions

  • To a medium sauce pan, add 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, and berries.
  • Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture begins to simmer.
  • Simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and drain through a fine mesh strainer.
  • Allow the berry syrup to cool.
  • To a large pitcher, add 2 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice, the berry syrup (should equal about 1 1/2 cups), and the remaining sugar and water.
  • Stir well.
  • Move to the refrigerator to chill for about 2 hours.
  • Serve over ice, and garnish with fresh lemons or berries, if desired.
