In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, oil, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla.
Mix in the sour cream until smooth.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Fold in the diced apples evenly.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it out evenly.
Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool before slicing and serving with caramel syrup.
