- 4 salmon filets
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
Preheat the oven to the broil setting. Line a baking sheet (with sides) with parchment or foil - spray with non-stick spray. Set aside.
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Whisk to combine.
Place the salmon filets on the prepared baking sheet.
Use a pastry brush to brush the oil mixture over each of the filets.
Cook in the preheated oven to 6-9 minutes or until the filets are done.
Allow to cool slightly before serving.
- For best results, cutting the salmon into portion-sized pieces will help it bake more quickly. If you need a little extra time to get your sides ready, you can leave the salmon whole and bake it for a little longer - up to twelve minutes. Then, portion it as you serve it.
- Heat your broiler for at least 5-10 minutes before cooking to ensure it reaches the proper temperature for cooking the salmon quickly and evenly.
- Rack Position. Position the oven rack so that the salmon is about 4-6 inches away from the broiler element. This distance helps ensure that the salmon cooks evenly without burning.
- I prefer broiling salmon with the skin side down to help reduce drying out the fish but you can broil it either way.
- Broiling time may vary depending on the thickness of the fillets. Cook until internal temperature reaches 145°F.
