Equipment

  • 9*13 baking dish
  • cutting board
  • knife
  • Tongs optional

Ingredients

  • 6 large croissants
  • 10-12 slices thin deli meat ham, turkey or prosciutto
  • 4 eggs 3 large or 4 small
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary and thyme finely chopped (reserve 1 tsp)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic power
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 4 oz mozzarella half cubed, half shredded

Honey Butter and Herb Sauce

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon chopped rosemary and thyme

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees f.
  • Slice the croissants into thirds.
  • Add the eggs, cream, milk, fresh herbs, salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder to a large mixing bowl and mix well.
  • Lightly spray the baking dish with non stick spray.
  • Using tongs or a fork, dip the pieces of the croissants into the egg mixture, turning them and fully coating. Shake off any excess mixture
  • Place into the baking dish. Repeat for all croissant pieces.
  • Fold the slices of ham in half, then half again, and in half once more to create the illusion of a rose.
  • Slide the meat roses into the dish wherever you’d like. I like to space them out a bit.
  • Add the small slices of cheese between the bread
  • Sprinkle the edges with the shredded cheese.
  • Bake for 30-40 mins until the egg mixture had cooked fully and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  • Make the sauce by adding honey, butter and reserved herbs to a small bowl.
  • Microwave in 30 second intervals until butter is melted.
  • Brush the honey butter onto the croissants once removed from the oven
  • Serve and enjoy

Notes

  • For smaller meat roses, cut ham slices in half before folding.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese on the edges to help it stay together.
  • Customize with your favorite additions, like green onions, green peppers or red peppers, or diced ham.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container after cooling to room temperature. Keep it in the fridge for 3 days.
  • Serve with fresh fruit for a complete breakfast.
  • Sprinke the casserole with some fresh parsley before serving.
