Taco Cups

These Easy Taco Cups are the perfect snack as a Game Day Appetizer or as a meal. Fun to make and so easy to change up the fillings.

Equipment

  • 12 count cupcake containers
  • Skillet
  • knife

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef turkey, or chicken
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • ½ cup salsa optional
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 1 cup shredded 4 cheese Mexican Blend
  • ¼-1/2 cup sour cream
  • ¼-1/2 cup guacamole
  • ¼ cup fresh diced tomatoes
  • ½ cup salsa optional
  • Cooking Spray

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
  • In a large skillet heat olive oil on medium heat.
  • Add the meat, onions, and bell peppers to the pan.
  • Break the meat up and cook completely.
  • Drain oil from the meat mixture.
  • Add in one packet of taco seasoning and ¼ cup water.
  • If adding salsa, add your preferred salsa and mix until well incorporated
  • Add more water as necessary for the preferred consistency.
  • Spray cupcake/muffin tin with nonstick spray
  • Add in one wonton per cup.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of cheese, then top with another wonton wrapper
  • Add 1 tablespoon of cheese and 1 heaping spoonful of the meat mixture
  • Bake for 10-12 mins until golden brown
  • Remove from oven and serve with favorite toppings.

Notes

 
  • Use lean ground beef or turkey to reduce the fat content of the taco cups.
  • For a low-carb option, substitute the wonton wrappers with almond flour tortillas or lettuce wraps.
  • Experiment with different fillings such as black beans, green chilies, or refried beans to add extra flavor and texture.
  • Leftover taco meat can be used as a filling for these taco cups, providing a creative way to repurpose leftovers.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat them in the oven or microwave for a quick and delicious snack.
