4th of July Rice Krispie Treats

These July 4th Rice Krispie Treats are fun and festive for a bbq or picnic. Easy to make red white and blue cereal treats made with simple ingredients. These are festive and fun!

Equipment

  • 9x13 baking dish
  • Microwave-safe bowls
  • Rubber Spatula

Ingredients

  • 5 ½ cups miniature marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 12 ounces red candy melts
  • 12 ounces blue candy melts
  • 12 ounces white candy melts
  • Red white and blue sprinkles

Instructions

  • In a large pot, heat butter over medium heat, until melted.
  • Add miniature marshmallows, and heat, stirring, until marshmallows are melted.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in cereal, mixing until everything is evenly incorporated..
  • Take a 9x13 baking dish and spray with non-stick spray.
  • Pour krispies mixture into the 9x13 dish, pressing down into the pan evenly.
  • Give the krispies about an hour to set.
  • Remove from the pan and cut into 15 squares.
  • In a microwave safe bowl, melt candy melts by microwaving on 30 second intervals.
  • Pour the melted candy into a piping bag.
  • Snip off the tip and drizzle the red candy over the krispie treats. You won’t use all of the candy, since there are two more colors to add.
  • Repeat for the blue and white candy melts.
  • Sprinkle with red white and blue jimmies sprinkles.
  • Allow the candy to set and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use real butter for the best flavor.
  • Press the cereal mixture firmly into the pan to ensure a nice, even layer.
  • Allow the treats to cool completely before cutting them to prevent them from falling apart.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic wrap at room temperature.
