Apple Pie Egg Rolls

  • Frying pan or deep fryer
  • Tongs
  • Paper towel for draining

Ingredients

  • 2 Granny Smith Apples diced
  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • ½ cup butter unsalted
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon allspice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Melt butter in a pan. Combine apples to butter.
  • Add sugar and spices to pan and cook with chopped apples over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil.
  • Mix cornstarch and water together and add to the mixture.
  • It will begin to thicken. Once it reaches a consistency where it coats the back of the spoon
  • remove from pan and let cool to room temperature.
  • Once cooled, add a spoonful of apples to the center of each egg roll wrapper and roll tightly. Seal the end of the wrapper by pinching egg roll wrapper.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet and fry in a single layer until golden brown on all sides.
  • Drain finished egg rolls on paper towels.
  • Dust with powdered sugar. And Serve with leftover filling syrup or caramel sauce.
