Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 12oz can beer
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Grease a 9" x 5" loaf pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, sift together dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • Pour one can (12 oz) of beer in the center.
  • Mix until blended. The batter will be lumpy.
  • Pour into prepared loaf pan and top with 2 tablespoons in butter.
  • Bake in oven 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Crust should be golden brown.

Notes

Store leftover beer bread in plastic wrap at room temperature. It will last about 4-5 days.
You can use this recipe to make beer bread muffins too.
