Ingredients

butter

chopped onion

stalks
celery
chopped

clove
garlic, minced

flour

milk (regular or 2%)

cups
chicken broth

broccoli, cooked and chopped
1 ½
cups
shredded Cheddar cheese

teaspoon
salt

teaspoon
pepper

nutmeg

Instructions
In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium-high heat.
Add onions, celery and garlic and cook 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender.
Add flour to pan and cook another 2 minutes.
Add broth, milk, salt, pepper and nutmeg and heat thoroughly.
Cook soup on low heat, stirring occasionally,, about 10-15 minutes.
Serve into bowls and top each bowl with ¼ cup of shredded cheese.
Notes
Alternatively, you can add cheese to the soup and then serve, but I like the presentation of the bowls with the cheese on top.
