I had a great experience at one of my favorite stores this week. Did you know that many Target stores in Los Angeles and Orange County, California now have a beauty concierge to help their customers? I met up with Lorine, a beauty concierge, at my local Target store after work one day this week. It was so helpful and refreshing to have someone give me some personalized service and attention, without feeling like I had to spend a lot of money on cosmetics.
Lorina was very knowledgeable about makeup, skincare and hair care. She said that she attended an intense training program with Target. In fact, Lorena also happens to be a licensed cosmotologist. I asked her if she would suggest a lipstick that would not be drying to my lips. She asked me questions on whether long-lasting or shimmer were important. I liked that she wanted more information about what would work for me before suggestiong something. She shared a couple of recommendations with me and gave me some advice on using a lip balm with sunscreen as a base for my lipstick. She said with summer coming, it is really important to protect our lips from the damaging sun rays.
I received a tour of the various product lines. There are anti-aging, natural, hyper-allergenic, and organic specialty lines now at Target. I can see why the Target concierges undergo an intensive training program with so many choices. They are also “brand agnostic”, which means they do not subscribe to one particular brand.
This was true my experience with Lorina. We talked about illuminators, beauty balms and mascara extensively and she recommended products from different brands. I was impressed by this because at Target, there are many products from wonderfully frugal brands such as e.l.f cosmetics to salon quality brands like Enjoy and Fekkai.
Target’s beauty concierge personnel can help with
- makeup
- skin care
- nail care
- body hygiene
- hair products
- fragrance
- hair appliances
The best part, there is no cost for this service. As you know, I love streamlining activities and now, I can really get more accomplished while at Target.
Each Target with a beauty concierge will have the hours posted in the make up aisle at the store. No appointment is ncessary. The beauty concierge will be wearing a black apron.
The Beauty Concierge Program will launch at stores in Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Minneapolis, Chicago, and Northern Virginia.
This is not a sponsored post. I did not receive monetary compensation or any products. All opinions are my own.
Do you like the idea of a beauty concierge to help you find a product?

very interesting concept, I am always wary of this though. I feel like they will tell me what they think I want to hear in order to get me to buy a product. too bad they are not in our area yet, I would try it.

I really liked the advice and it was really nice not to be pressured. I’m sure I will be looking for her a lot in the future.

I love that – “brand agonostic.” I love Target. Out here at the local Target – right in a town we call “Cow Town” I would sure love to see this but I’m not sure it’s coming anytime soon. So very cool.

Oh I love Target too! I hope the program makes its way out to you!

That is awesome! I hope they start that in all their Target stores. That would definitely set them apart for women who buy cosmetics in drugstores vs department stores. I switched over to department store make up a few years ago because I could get one on one consultations to learn what works well for me and tips and tricks. There is nothing worse than buying make up, even if its less and having it sit there because you’re not sure what to do with it or it looks awful once you put it on! Thanks for sharing this!

So true Arelis! I do not like to waste money! I hope this program expands too. They do take back makeup you are not satisfied with, which is great!

so fun that they are there!
Organizedisland says
Yes I agree Mary! Gotta love Target!

This is definately a smart move for Target. They just have to really get the word out about how the concierges are trained so that people feel confident in getting advice from them.
Organizedisland says
Yes very true! I hope people give it a try. My concierge was really knowledgeable. Make up and hair is so not my specialty. 🙂

I’m glad you had a great experience with your beauty concierage. I’m always so hesitant to ask because I don’t have the knowledge, but it’s nice to know there’s someone available that has that information available.
I hope this lasts within Targets.
