Summer Entertaining Preparation Tips

With the longer days coming, it also means more summer barbecues and more friends over. Time spent with friends and family is always a good use of time. Preparing for summer activities does not have to be stressful and I have some summer entertaining tips to share with you to help welcome guests and entertain with style and ease.

Summer Entertaining Tips

Clean Your Kitchen

Planning for company at the beginning of the season will help you be kitchen-ready for any future impromptu gatherings. Clean all surfaces, including counters, the refrigerator and freezer so that only touch ups will be necessary when it is time for entertaining. Put away any piles of papers or unnecessary clutter. Buy or make some new kitchen towels so your kitchen looks fresh.

Keep Food & Drink Items in Stock

Stock your freezer and refrigerator with snacks and beverages. Soft drinks and juices are often on sale this time of year and they are great to have on hand for gatherings and barbecues. We always keep some frozen appetizers, ice and ice cream in the freezer so that if we have unexpected company, we have something to offer guests. I also usually have ingredients on hand to make a tasty salsa.

Kitchen Rules

Go over summer rules with the family. Just because it is summer does not mean that cleaning up after oneself is no longer a duty. Make a little chalkboard or memo board sign with reminders so that the kitchen will (mostly) remain intact.

Fresh Flowers or Succulents

Bring some of the outdoors in with some fresh flowers or succulents. Nothing says summer like fresh plants and greenery. Keep them on your counter and use them on your table or counter near the serving areas when hosting guests. Succulents last longer but either will make the occasion extra special.

Make a Summer Playlist

Start on a summer playlist now using one of the free music apps. The playlist will come in handy at summer gatherings and will be a nice memory of the season. These are also great for road trips.

Stock up on Supplies

Pick up some napkins and paper plates for easy entertaining. Be ready for the gatherings with trash bags. I recommend getting the Glad® OdorShield® Gain™ Original Scent with Febreze® with the 5-day Odor guarantee so that you do not need to worry about the smell. These now come in a variety of scents and really disguise odors.

Relax and Enjoy

Keep the menu simple so that you can enjoy your company and the time together. Memories are made of the moments that we cherish.

To help you with your summer celebration, here is a Glad coupon offer to save $2 on any one Glad OdorShield Trash Bats (15ct and higher).

5-day Odor Control guaranteed - even the most perceptive noses won't notice the trash!

What is your best summer party preparation tip?

Awesome tips! I like the idea of keeping a few things in the freezer in case of unexpected guests 🙂
