Setting The Holiday Mood

I love this time of year. It's a time of celebrating with friends and family and taking time to truly enjoy the holiday season. Whether you are hosting a tree decorating party or cocktail party, I have a few entertaining ideas to help you welcome your guests with style and simplicity while setting the holiday mood.

Food & Drink

Keep your menu simple. When I was little my grandmother used to spend days (yes days) before a gathering, making tamales from scratch. As much as I would love to do that, I don't have the time so usually our gatherings are potluck style or appetizer parties. Stock your bar with beverages for everyone. Again, keep the menu simple with a punchbowl or bottled beverages so you can welcome guess with a festive beverage.

Fragrance

Nothing says Christmas like Christmas Scents. Cinnamon apples and sugar cookies baking in the oven remind me of walking into my grandmother’s house during the holidays. She always had something sweet baking in her oven. I like to use fragrance plugins and scented candles such as Apple Cinnamon Cheer™ and Frosted Cookie Party™ from the Glade® Winter Collection to recreate that fragrance.

Your guests will love walking through your door to the sweet scent of sugar cookies or apple cinnamon.

Music & Decorations

Make an online playlist of holiday tunes. There is nothing like a little holiday music to get people in the mood. Mix up some new renditions along with some old classic favorites. Decorate your home with a few decorations to make it festive for your guests. Use candles to set the mood. I like to put mine on my fireplace mantle.

Entertainment

Plan a white elephant gift or cookie exchange for guests to participate. Find inexpensive ornaments from discount stores and place them in a basket by the door so that each guest has a little souvenir of your event.

Finally, relax and enjoy your party. Live in the moment, take a few photos, and enjoy your guests.

MONEY-SAVING TIP

You can save on Glade® products with coupons. Find coupons for Glade® on 12/7/14 in most Sunday newspapers in the coupon section, you can also find digital coupons for Glade® on coupons.com.

TIMESAVING TIP:

Keep it simple and shop for your food, drinks and scents all in one trip. I found the Glade® Winter collections at the end of the greeting card aisle at Ralphs. #GladeHolidayMood #CollectiveBias

Cassidy needs to read this because he loves all Glade holiday products. Won't come home without new ones. I mean it.
However he doesn't keep menus simple and he really should!

If his meals are anything like his Halloween costumes, I am uber impressed! The scents are seriously great!

Great tips! We always do potluck, it's way easier than slaving in the kitchen for days. And you're right, fragrances do put everyone in the holiday mood! Thanks for sharing! #client

Hi, I'm Raquel! I am a self-proclaimed foodie and have enjoyed cooking and baking since I was little. I loved baking cookies with my mother and grandma as a child, and later making dinners for my parents to foster my passion while in high school. I also had a passion for organizing and keeping things tidy.
