This weekend was busy. And very warm for October. I really want to be making soups and chili, but because it is so warm, I have been making salads. I wanted to make it a Fall salad so I took some field greens and added some pears and dried cranberries to make it more like the season. The Pear and Feta salad came out really tasty.
I decided, for fun, to put it my new salad bowl from Uncommon Goods. Disclosure: As a blogger, companies will occasionally send me products to review, but I only share things that I have tried and loved. All opinions are mine. I really love this bowl.
It makes serving salads so much fun. It is great for parties, entertaining and barbeques. My favorite is the serving oars that come with the salad bowl. You can find the salad bowl at Uncommon Goods. It makes a great gift for someone who loves to entertain, or loves the beach.
The rowboat salad bowl is sturdy and made with hand-polished aluminum. It is so cute, that it looks good empty as a decorative piece as well.
Here is the recipe for the salad:
Pear and Feta Salad
½ iceberg lettuce, washed, drained and shredded
1 pear washed and chopped (I used Barlett pears)
2 slices red onion, chopped
2 tablespoons dried cranberries
1 tablespoon feta cheese crumbles.
In a bowl or boat, combine lettuce, pear pieces and onion. Add cranberries and feta cheese and toss lightly.
Note, I used a Bartlett pear for this recipe, because the flavor is mild and the texture is softer. If you make this salad before you plan to eat it, add the pear just right before serving.
With holiday season here, be sure to check out Uncommon Goods Gifts for Women and their Personalize Gifts on their website. The items in their catalog are unique, practical and functional. All opinions are my own.
