I had an opportunity to try out the new Mockmill Grain Mill. If you have not heard of it, the product is pretty cool. Mockmill is a grinding attachment that will work with KitchenAid and Kenmore stand mixers. I have been trying to incorporate more natural products into my menus and when I heard about this product I wanted to try it.
About the Mockmill Grinder
The grain-milling attachment is made out of ceramic-bonded corundum stone and produces a fine flour, for whichever grain you decide to use.
The folks at Mockmill are passionate about what they do. For those who are unfamiliar with different mill companies, the Mockmill was invented by Wolfgang Mock who was a pioneer in the home grain mills industry. He believed that the benefits of eating a whole-grain diet were important to society and wanted to bring the mill attachment to people all over the world. (Read more of Wolfgang Mock’s story.)
They have been in business a long time and wanted to provide people to easily grind their own flour. No need for a separate machine with this handy attachment.
Using the Mockmill
I was surprised at how easy the Mockmill was to use. I was easily able to attach it to my mixer in minutes. The grinder works with the stand mixture components to grind flour.
I picked up the Barley at my neighborhood Sprout’s store and made my own barley flour. There are many benefits to making your own flour and the Mockmill comes with a book filled with information and recipes to help explain the benefits of home milling.
You can see how it works here with some rice in the hopper.
The Mockmill has an adjustment nob and the setting helps determine the fineness for the grain. It was so easy to use and I liked that it can work with several grains. It also seems to be very well built and I love that it attached nicely to my stand mixer. The Mockmill attachment fits all KitchenAid mixers, and comes with a 2 year manufacturer’s warranty. I used made this rice flour in just seconds using the Mock Mill.
The Mockmill is not only easy to use, but it is very easy to clean too!
