This is a sponsored conversation in partnership with Disney Books. All opinions, craft ideas and opnions are my own. You may have heard of Elena, the sixteen year old princess of Avalor or maybe have seen the new series on the Disney Channel. Elena is Disney’s newest princess and she is the focus of my recent holiday craft.
Sometimes there is just so much going on that people seem to forget what the holidays are all about. In the new book Feliz Navidad : A Royal Christmas, Elena finds out just what can happen when competitions of celebrations get out of hand.
It’s Navidad in Avalor, and the whole kingdom wants Princess Elena to celebrate in their village. Elena decides to host one big Navidad celebration in the park so everyone can celebrate together. But each community gets competitive and tries to prove that their traditions are the best. The result is a disaster and Elena offers a solution that highlights what the holidays are really about.
We got the inspiration for this luminaria lantern paper bag craft from Feliz Navidad : A Royal Christmas. A wonderful story about celebrating Christmas (Navidad) more simply and making the most of time with friends and family.
Feliz Navidad : A Royal Christmas Luminaria Lantern Project – Instructions
Here are the supplies we used for this craft.
First, we decorated the small paper bags with decorative scissors. Then we decorated them using the stickers,
as well as the paper punches,
And by cutting out shapes with the traditional scissors.
Then using battery operated candles, we put them in the luminaria lantern bags and turned them on.
They were so pretty and colorful! Perfect for a walkway or buffet table. I think Princess Elena would be proud!
We just loved this simple and festive project. It is suitable for all ages that can use scissors safely.
But wait, there is more. In the spirit of celebration, one lucky Organized Island reader will win a copy of the book, Feliz Navidad : A Royal Christmas, with a themed ornament as well as a $25 gift card to go towards your own celebration.
