I love baking during the holidays. I have been baking since I was about 8 years old and my mom bought me my first set of Wilton cake decorating pans.  I am excited to share that the very first Los Angeles (LA) Cookie Convention and Sweet Show is coming to Southern California.

LA Cookie Con

On January 25th, 2015, thousands of baking and pastry enthusiasts will descend upon Pasadena Convention Center for the inaugural LA Cookie Con and Sweets Show. The Sweets Show stands to be California’s biggest convention for home bakers and confectioners.

You might have noticed my little banner at the bottom right of my sight that states I am an official Cookie Con Blogger. I am so excited to attend this show. Some of the special guests that will be there include Ron Ben-Israel (one of the most famous pastry artists in the world). Ron was named the Best Baker by Vogue Magazine and was declared Martha Stewart’s favorite cake maker.

Also in attendance will be Masterchef fan favorites Ahran Cho, Daniel McGuffey and Monti Carlo. Masterchef Junior’s Dara Yu (better known as “Dara the Bow Girl”), Troy Glass and Sarah Lane, and Next Food Network Star’s Stacey Poon-Kinney, now proud owner of The Trails Eatery in San Diego will also be at the convention. More guests will be announced on the Sweets Show’s website as the event approaches.

LA Cookie Con and Sweets Show, the West Coast’s biggest baking and pastry convention, has announced its professional competition as well as its baking contests. The convention’s main competition is its 1st Annual World Dessert Table Championships. The competition is open to professionals or teams of professionals who are challenged to create the most visually stunning Dessert Table.

The Baking Contests are open to amateurs and semi-pros (small cottage operators) who think they can make the best Novelty Cake, Novelty Cake Pops, or Iced Cookies. The Iced Cookies division is split between Juniors (ages 12 and under) and Adults (ages 13 and up). This year’s theme is “Love is Eternal”.

A limited number of spots are available. Entry fees benefit Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

This is very special to me because I was treated at Children's Hospital a few times when I was a kid. I was only about 8 at the time, but I remember the staff being very nice there, so I love that this event benefits the Hospital.

There will also be samples from local and national vendors showcasing the best in pastries, confections, baked savoury dishes and beverages. There will also be a Kids Zone with free face painting by LA Parent, crafts, activities and more, plus cookie & cupcake decorating classes and special guest appearances for everyone to enjoy.

LA Cookie Con and Sweets Show by AKT Entertainment, LLC is donating 10% of ticket proceeds and 100% of raffle and Baking Contest proceeds to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. I will be covering this event as a member of the media and am excited to share it with you.

In the meantime, please tell me, what is your favorite cookie?

My favorite cookie is an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. I can't wait to attend this conference!

Hi, I'm Raquel! I am a self-proclaimed foodie and have enjoyed cooking and baking since I was little. I loved baking cookies with my mother and grandma as a child, and later making dinners for my parents to foster my passion while in high school. I also had a passion for organizing and keeping things tidy.
