One of the things I strive for is to eat healthy foods and incorporate exercise into my daily life. I am especially motivated at the beginning of each year. Sometimes I pack my lunch when going to work, but more often than not, I pick something up because I like to get out of the office. One of the places I go to at least twice a month is Del Taco, because it is quick and tasty.
I was so excited recently when I found out Del Taco and Jenny-O Turkey were creating some great new healthy menu items. That’s right, Del Taco is using Jenny-O ground turkey recipe for all their Turkey menu items!
I could not wait to taste something off of this new menu. I had a chance to try that they were not only tasty, but filling.
The new Turkey Tacos are served in a crunchy corn or warm flour tortilla shell, seasoned ground Jennie-O turkey, crisp lettuce, freshly grated cheddar, and freshly made pico de gallo salsa, and are only 150 calories. I can get two for less than $3 and the ground turkey has 33% less fat than their seasoned beef.
Other menu items I have tried and tested are the Deluxe turkey taco salad (which is really good, but I do not eat all the shell) and the Turkey Combination Burrito. I absolutely love the turkey combination burritos. I always ask for the green chili sauce on the burrito and it is very good!
They also have a Turkey Crunch Tostada which I will have to try sometime.
Every Del Taco restaurant operates a working kitchen where many ingredients are prepared fresh daily, including:
- Cheddar cheese freshly-grated daily from 40-pound blocks
- Lard-free beans, slow-cooked from scratch every three hours
- Handmade pico de gallo salsa, chopped fresh from onions, tomatoes and cilantro
- Marinated chicken grilled in-restaurant daily
Have you tried any of their turkey items yet? There is a coupon link here for a free taco with any purchase (limited time offer).
Also, the good folks at Del Taco are giving one lucky Organized Island fan a $20 gift card to Del Taco, so if you have a moment, enter below:
