There is a really trendy vibe going on in Las Vegas and I am not talking about the Strip but the new Downtown Las Vegas #DTLV . The newly renovated area features shopping, nightlife and boutique hotels. I recently was invited to check out Wild in Las Vegas and before your mind starts wondering what it means, Wild Restaurant in Las Vegas is, it is a lovely restaurant in the hippest part of Downtown Las Vegas.
Wild Las Vegas
Wild is nestled in the base of the Ogden residence building in the heart of trendy and hip downtown Las Vegas. We walked into the restaurant through the front entrance which opens to their bar area. Guests where enjoying their happy hour and as we moved into the dining room, I noticed some of Wilds some cool wall decor.
The dining room was colorful and casual. We got a table by the window which offered a great view for peopal watching. One of the first things I noticed was the chalkboard list of the wines and craft beers available. We ordered a couple of cold beers while getting some suggestions from our friendly waiter. I was very happy to see that they had one of my favorites, Magic Hat, as one of their craft beer offerings.
The menu offers a selections of salads, pizzas, sandwiches and pasta and also includes mandy gluten-free options.
We started with the Fig Salad which was a nice combination of figs, arugula, prosciutto, gorgonzola all in a slightly sweet balsamic glaze. I really loved the taste of this generous salad. I had to stop eating it because I wanted to save room for the other items we ordered but I could have eaten the entire salad and been happy.
Next we the tried the Spice Prosciutto Flatbread pizza. It is a super thin flatbread with prosciutto, (organic) marinara sauce, fresh mozzarella cheese and spicy peppers. I could not get over how thin this crust was. It was also a bit spicy, which I like, and this bread tasted really good with our cold beers. They have an array of flatbreads available and you can customize with additional toppings, if you like.
The beef sandwich was a special of the day so we tried it. It was a generous portion of tender beef and it came with a picnic potato salad which I enjoyed. I could have eaten more of the potato salad as it reminded me of being at a summer picnic. Simple but very tasty with just the right amount of may and spices.
We also tried the Chicken Tikka Masala Pasta which is a nice medly of pulled chicken, tikka masala sauce, gluten-free pasta, and fresh parsley. The masala had a little kick to it and was a pleasing twist to the standard Chicken Tikka Masala.
I also ordered a glass of their Ginger Lemonade, which tasted like it was just made.
We enjoyed our meal and will come back and try some of their other dishes. Entrees are reasonably priced, with most between $8-15. If you are in downtown Las Vegas, think about getting Wild.
Wild is a great place to meet for drinks, have some appetizers or enjoy a casual lunch or dinner. Try their flatbread pizza if you like some spice and be sure to try the fig salad as well!
