Have you ever wished that you could custom design your own shoes? I certainly have and I'm excited to tell you that I had the chance to actually do this recently.

I cannot tell you how many times I have seen a shoe and thought. Oh, if only it was a different ____ (fill in the blank - color, size, height, heel, material, etc). Well I am here to tell you that now you can design your own shoes!

I recently was invited to check out the new Shoes of Prey concept at the Nordstrom in Fashion Island, Newport Beach. Shoes of Prey is a dynamic shoe company originating from Austrailia that allows you to design your own shoes. How cool is that? Today I want to share with you the process I went through designing my own shoes.

How to Design Your Own Shoes

The process starts with an iPad and a 3D Designer program. You start with the style of the shoe that you would like.

I really wanted a wedge shoe for spring and summer travel. Something with a little heel, but not too high. So I started the process there. Once I selected the style, it was time to decide on which material to use. This was a little tough because there are so many colors and materials to choose from.

Shoes of Prey Fabric Choices

Luckily, with a little help from the Nordstrom stylest in the department, I opted for a navy leather.

Next came sizing. They have very shy sizes of the shoes available in the department so that you can find your perfect fit before you order.

Then I actually get to pick what style of heel of which I want. I wanted a bit of a lower wedge so that it would be comfortable for travel. Now I could have ordered cork or this cute polka dot style here, but I decided to change it up.

I decided to go with a cute leopard print. Nothing says adventure travel like leopard print right?
Plus I liked how unique my shoes would be because I designed them.
Fast forward about five weeks and my shoes were delivered to me in the mail. I love them!

I have to tell you that the retail price for designing your own shoes is quite reasonable and start at $129 and shipping to you is included. There are currenty two Nordstroms that offer Shoes of Prey in California noted below, but you can also order them online at the Shoes of Prey website. Warning - that site is highly addictive and when you see how many styles are available you might find yourself ordering new shoes.

I would like to thank Shoes of Prey for the opportunity to design my own shoes. All opinions and shoe design choices are mine. I only share things I love and would recommend with you.

WOW! I would go crazy for this. And by the way, the shoe department at Nordstrom has always been my weakness. It is that good. I can't believe I've never seen this before because it's so brilliant.
