Having recently visited Europe, I have been loving exploring recipes to bring back the fabulous European flavor into my home. I recently had an opportunity to review a new cookbook by Jackie Collins, inspired by her most beloved character, Lucky Santangelo. I remember when her first book about Lucky, Chances, came out in 1982.
I was excited to hear that Jackie Collins had written a cookbook, (one of my favorite subjects).
I was provided with a complimentary copy of the cookbook for review. If you have never read any Lucky books, Lucky is the sexy glam girl with a dash of danger and the daughter of former gangster Gino. Like any good Italian-American girl who wants to do right for her poppa (and show her momma that she can do more than shop), Lucky knows how to turn up the heat and sizzle in the kitchen!
The Lucky Santangelo Cookbook features recipes for a Godfather’s feast with:
- seductive cocktails;
- tantalizing appetizers;
- delicious pasta;
- succulent entrees;
- a wide variety of side dishes;
- rich sauces; and
- decadent desserts.
Here is a video of Jackie sharing one of her recipes for English Roast Potatoes.
Packed with entertaining tips to create a mood and to suit any occasion—from intimate dinners with your partner-in-crime to big and boisterous family dinners to elegant cocktail parties. There are some wonderful recipes in the cookbook. The recipes are simple to follow and most have photos of the recipe. I personally loved the Zucchini Boats and the Venus Lychee Martini was tasty too! I have not had a chance to try any others, but here is a list of some of the recipes in the cookbook:
- The Venus Bellini
- Chorizo Chocolate Tapas
- Smoked Duck Pizza with Hoisin
- Sole with Parmesan Crust
- Roasted Beef Dusted with Coriander
- Shrimp in Lemony Coconut Milk
- Santangelo Salmon
- Chicken Breasts with Roasted Lemons, Green Olives, and Capers
- Creamy Peas with Tarrogon
- Lucky’s Luscious Meatballs
- Crème Fraiche with Chocolate Mousse

That sounds like a fun book. And as someone living in England, I find it funny that she's doing English roasties. They're even better made with goose fat, which makes them really crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside (but I rarely do, I tend to save that for Christmas)
Raquel
Wow I have never heard of goose fat. I bet your recipe is pretty good and authentic. Thanks for entering Carin!
Carol
Crème Fraiche with Chocolate Mousse sounds great because I am all about the chocolate. Wow! I read a couple of the Lucky books years ago. I loved those books!
Raquel
They were fun books Carol! Thanks for entering!
