How to Make Coffee Filter Peacocks Craft
With just a few supplies from the Dollar Store and a few household supplies, you can tie-dye coffee filters with washable markers to create dozens of gorgeous peacocks! This is a fun bird craft idea for any time of year and I love how inexpensive they are to make.
Step 1 - Flatten a round coffee filter and then fold in half. Place folded coffee filter on a gallon size zipper bag or metal baking sheet pan. Draw teardrop shapes with a blue washable marker, add a circle of yellow at the top of each teardrop, and then fill in the background with green. Of course, you can use other colors, but this is a suggestion to start with.
Step 2 -Mist coffee filter with water and watch the magical blending! Set aside to dry.
Step 3 -Clip wooden clothespin to a scrap of cardboard and use it as a handle. Paint all surfaces of the clothespin with bright blue craft paint. Set aside to dry.
Step 4 -Once dry, cut a three-inch slit in the coffee filter, starting at the folded edge.
Step 5 -Attach the two wiggle eyes to the top of the Peacock clothespin with the glue gun and glue sticks. Cut a small triangle from yellow craft foam and glue directly under wiggle eyes. Clip the coffee filter (feathers) into the clothespin (body).
Step 6 - Embellish with green craft feather glued to the top of the Peacock.
Create this Dollar Store Coffee Filter and Clothespin Peacock Craft in just about 30 minutes with help from the kids! Super cute to clip to a banner or hang on a gift bag and brighten someone’s day!
