Time Saving Tips to Get That Hour Back

So like most of my friends in the US (Arizona excluded), I lost an hour recently due to Daylight Savings Time. Now I am so happy that it means I get an extra hour of sunshine after work over here in California, but at the same time, I kind of want that hour back.
So I decided to make a list of how I can regain that hour :

TIme Saving Tips #timemanagement

Time Saving Activity Estimated Time Savings
Pick out what you and your kids will wear tomorrow tonight and set it out 10 minutes
Make your own coffee or tea drink and take it to go instead of stopping at a coffee shop 10 minutes
Record your television program and watch it back without commercials 10 minutes (at least)
Order dinner in or pick up a dinner at a fast food restaurant for one night 15 minutes
Delegate or say no to the next request  – it is ok to say no once in a while 10 minutes
Eat on paper plates for dinner for one meal 5 minutes

There is an hour back! :) What tips would you add to this list?

  1. I am still dragging from the time change! I think I am going to try to cook dinner for two nights at the same time one night this week.

  2. Up until just a few years ago, those of us in Indiana didn’t have to change our clocks, but we had this governor who thought it was the thing to do. No matter what I do, my body still feels like it’s getting up at 5:00 a.m. – until Fall anyway. ;)

  3. I swear that I “miss” that hour until the fall comes and we “fall back”. Sigh…I know part of the issue is my mindset so I really tried to be more positive and embracing this year. Being able to sit at home and enjoy the daylight even when I work late is awesome!

What’s helped me the most is getting EVERYTHING ready the night before – essentially all I have to do is roll out of bed, put on my clothes and all our items are ready to be picked up so we can walk out the door. Getting my kids on board has been essential!

Sounds like you have a great system in place Michelle! I love that you have everything ready the night before. I love that your kids are on board too – great job!

  4. Great tips!

  5. I heard somewhere that it takes someone up to a week to adjust to the time change. I don’t remember it being such a big deal, but this is the first year I’m the mom of two kids! One (the baby) totally adjusted and is waking up at normal times. The older one is getting up when it’s even earlier and darker. What’s her deal?!

    • Organizedisland says:

Aw, I guess we all need time to adjust. I agree – it takes me at least a week! Thanks for stopping by!

  6. I love it ~ great title! This time change is killing me this time around…
I found you today thru The Taylor House Linky. I hope you get a chance to stop by my blog and leave a comment, too!
