Thinking About Child Care?

Can you believe it is March already? If you have school-aged children, now is the time to be thinking of camps and programs to enroll for summer.  If you are a parent of a child age 1 – 5, you may want to look into child care options for the summer or fall. It may seem early, but planning early will help. Choosing quality care can be challenging and overwhelming for parents.

I want to share with you some information from Ready, Set Grow LA. They are a great resource for information to help with this area.

Did you know that Ninety percent of a child’s brin develops by age 5? These early years are critical to the development of how a child thinks, feels, acts and interacts with others.

To help parents who need to find someone to watch after their child during these early develpment years, First 5 LA has launched “Quality Child Care Lasts a Lifetime,” a campaign aimed at information parents about the life-long benefits of quality early eare and education and tips to help them make informed decisions.

Research shows that children who receive quality care show more advanced language skills, do better in school, have fewer behavioral problems, and develop better social skills.  Ultimately, they are more likely to graduate from high school and succeed in their academic careers.

To learn more about the Quality Child Care Lasts a Lifetime campaign, visit First 5 LA’s website for parents, http://www.ReadySetGrowLA.org.
ReadySetGrow also has a great resource on 5 steps to Choosing Quality Child Care and a list of family events in the Los Angeles area. Please pass this information on to anyone you know who could use this information.
Are you or anyone you know going to be looking into childcare for their preschooler?

  1. My oldest daughter attended day care and preschool, but my two sons did not. There’s definitely a difference. I’d love for my 2-year-old to get some preschool before Kindergarten. =0)
